Empowering Ethio-China relations through the power of innovative sport
Ethio-China Fitness Parkour and Sports Training Consultancy was founded in Shanghai on June 12, 2025, by Dr. Mulugeta Debebe Darza. A distinguished sports science lecturer at Arba Minch University in Ethiopia, Dr. Mulugeta’s journey was profoundly shaped by his PhD in Physical Education and Sports Coaching from Shanghai University of Sport, China. During his doctoral studies, he not only excelled in research but also acquired invaluable expertise in advanced sports lab technology, mastering cutting-edge sports training, rehabilitation exercise, and parkour skills; laying the groundwork for this innovative venture.
Inspired by this unique blend of knowledge and practical experience, Dr. Mulugeta established the consultancy with a clear mission: to promote the discipline of parkour and integrate it with comprehensive sports training. Launched in collaboration with the China Youth Sports Federation and Shanghai Shencheng Longjie Sports Development Co., Ltd. (STARS Parkour), we aim to empower children, youth, and adults, fostering a stronger, healthier community in Ethiopia through innovative physical education and sports training approaches.
Our Core Values are cultivating talent and pursuing world-class athletic standards while promoting health and discipline for all ages and skill levels. We also foster an Ethio-China Cultural Connection, merging Ethiopia's passion for sports development with China's systematic sports education model through the power of sport.
Our long-term vision is to gradually establish leading research groups and expert committees and, ultimately, to promote the emerging sport of parkour within school physical education curricula in Ethioipia. Finally, we aim to launch the Ethiopian Parkour Association/Federation in collaboration with volunteers, experts, stakeholders, government officials, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports in Ethiopia.
